Our History

The Department started its journey in 1976 initially with Master’s Program in Biochemistry with its Founding Chairman, Professor Dr. M. Qaisuddin.

The B.Sc. (Honors) Program was introduced in 1981

Based on the changing demand, mission and objectives, the department was renamed in 2001 as the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Rajshahi University Biochemistry Association (RUBA) is Dhaka based student welfare association established in 2007 under the leadership of some proactive and dedicated alumni with an objective to engage alumni for keeping touch with each other and to support students and others stakeholders

The Rajshahi University Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Alumni Association (RUBMBAA) was formed in 2022. The primary purpose of this Alumni Association is to connect and reconnect graduates of the department through a diverse set of activities to foster and nurture the graduate of the department. Also, RUBMBAA helps the alumni in fulfilling their responsibility, thus, enhance the academic growth and development of the department as well as the University of Rajshahi.
